Yes unfortunately that’s not true. Several reddit threads have suggested it is chatGPT fantasy, but regardless of the source, here is:
The actual regs in question https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dir/2014/53/2024-12-28
Ycombinator analysing it (and saying it’s not an issue) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44765939
Xiaomi saying it’s fine (their article was apparently the source of the misinfo) https://xiaomitime.com/dont-panic-eu-isnt-ending-bootloader-unlocks-soon-59697/
GrapheneOS saying it’s not an issue https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/114981731913328733 https://xcancel.com/GrapheneOS/status/1951434556957138962 and https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/24601-eu-is-banning-bootloaders-unlock/10

Can you point me to this regulation ? First I’ve heard of it.

Umm I think it is Google who are trying to kill access to FOSS. How can you blame the EU for that ?
Google aren’t seriously trying to blame someone else for their own choices now are they ?

KDE is not a Mint supported DE and the KDE files are not in the Mint repos.
This can be made to work if you’re experienced but is definitely not a good idea for beginners. It will eventually break, and dependency hell is a thing.
For a KDE option suitable fir beginners, Fedora offers KDE as does Ubuntu, or there’s KDE Neon

There’s a list of supported devices there. Lenovo was one

No it doesn’t. It’s a summary to a point in time.
If the inspector has found 20 problems then he’s found twenty problems. The reader may extrapolate that more will be found, but the statement makes no such implication

If you have ever texted someone aged 15-25 then have a read of those texts and tell me if you think they’re fake
(Hint Talking like Ulysses S Grant send a letter home isn’t the general style of GenZ comms)

Jesus christ. How in a country with 4 guns for every person is there someone who thinks a 200yard shot to a soda can sized target is difficult for anyone familiar with their weapon ?
There are literally 10s of millions of Americans who take harder shots (successfully) every hunting season.

“Thus far” means “up to this point in time”.
It is neutral about anything in the future, yes, because it is avoiding making any commentary on it. But it is NOT “erring towards not expecting to find anything”
It is explicitly not predicting any outcome positive or negative. No expectation of any kind.
It states what the communicator believes are the facts to date with ZERO speculation about the future

Malicious communications, it’s in the article.
There’s no way they’ll make it stick, in fact I predict all charges will be dropped in a couple of days. It’s just a BS excuse to stop them until Mango goes

Agree totally. The entry wound is going to be 30cal sized. It’s the exit that’s the question. If it’s a solid there’s no way a 30-06 slug wouldn’t have kept going and hit something else (like the people behind him), if as was suggested it was a hollowpoint then in my experience the exit wound is going to be several inches in diameter (based on deer and pigs) on a human neck that means at least half his neck would have disappeared.
Neither of those two things happened on the video, hence me doubting the calibre.
On what I saw I’d be guessing 243, or 30-30 maybe even 300 blackout if we hadn’t seen a rifle pic, if the pictured rifle is correct than 300 BLK is way too new.
Anyway, pure speculation as a hunter based on my experience with animals. Just doesn’t match what I’ve observed.

Why are maga “scared shitless of the mormon” ? Serious question. Not American.

Broadly agree with everything you said, and well spotted to pick this one - it certainly has the “sound” of authenticity, the level of detail def gives a bit of confidence.
I’d note that he said “With a new barrel, the rifle could be chambered in anything from .218 to .458. The claim of .30.06 is possible and likely correct.” so he’s just accepting the 30-06 because that’s what’s reported (which in the absence of evidence to the contrary is not unreasonable).
Then again, the other question is whether it actually was the weapon used - we can’t trust this administration as far as they can be thrown.
The bolt handle being changed is entirely plausible, I could see my father pulling out the oxy-acetelene and bending a handle he wasn’t happy without into a better shape. So the sort of guy comfortable doing a barrel swap and furniture replacement wouldn’t be too bothered doing that.

Not the fash end of reddit I avoid that - this thread
https://www.reddit.com/r/liberalgunowners/comments/1nez6z9/the_rifle_aledgedlies/
They’re basing it on the tail end safety mechanism I think (I can’t see it well enough to be sure), although honestly I suspect they’re just taking the media report of mauser at face value and retrofitting what they see to that

FYI the reddit thread seems to think it’s a mauser 98 in an aftermarket polymer stock. The potato quality photo makes it too hard for me to work it - dunno if they’ve found a better photo

Rem 700 is a good guess, my thought was Ruger American - it doesn’t match the current model of either perfectly but as you say a 20 or 30 year old model will often be different, and yes no piccatinny rail in that pic.
Based on the exit wound shown in the video I doubt it’s 30-06 to be honest - I think your guess of a .270, or maybe .243 would be my guess, particularly given how popular those two were 30 years ago for hunting. I guess could be .308 but as per other post in the thread the sort of damage I’d see on a pig or deer just doesn’t line up with what I’d expect a 30-06 to do and still light even for 308.

Current model Rem 700s and Ruger Americans (which was my first thought) both have the bolt arm bent at about 15-25 from perpendicular rather than the 90 degrees of that pic.
However teh R700s have a screw off bolt handle so that is changeable (I think the american does too)
https://www.remarms.com/rifles/bolt-action/model-700/
https://ruger.com/products/americanRifle/overview.html?n=all
Although the r700 alpha hunter in those pics has a straight bolt arm.
Plausible it’s an older model 700
OK, in broad terms you want a distro that is reasonably up to date, but doesn’t have to be bleeding edge.
I run Mint Cinnamon and Arch KDE for the limited gaming I do, they both work perfectly fine.
Almost all games that have a Linux port will have the support & requirements specified for Ubuntu, which has a KDE flavour, however most people won’t recommend Ubuntu (for good reasons). An Ubuntu derivative with the issues removed however is a decent choice: Mint or PopOS.
Mint is by a long way the most recommended Linux distro for beginners and for good reason - the install process is easy, the community is supportive, and it does pretty much everything straight out of the box.
Cinnamon desktop environment is customisable, not as much as KDE. If you’re really keen on sticking with KDE then either EndeavourOS (which is basically a bundling of Arch so it’s easy to install) or KDE Plasma - which is Debian based but more up to date than Sid I believe.
I don’t recommend Arch for beginners unless you’re highly technical and willing to RTFM.
Most windows games will work in linux via proton/wine etc.
You’reYour only really blocked ones are the couple of companies that insist on kernel anti-cheat and are anti-Linux (EA I think ?) it’s a handful of AAA games that are locked out.Generally you don’t need any hardware changes nowadays, in fact it’s often the other way around - stuff that W10 & 11 no longer support can often be made to work on linux. AMD & Intel GPUs are less troublesome than Nvidia, but it’s generally not a big deal anymore.
Reddit’s /r/linuxgaming has fairly reasonable people (for reddit) and a fairly deep archive that will allow you to search for the specific games you most play, and ways to get them running.
