Because whitespace sensitivity makes it very easy to make a whole bunch of annoying mistakes when shuffling code around, or copying it from one source to another (from text in one application to the editor in your ide for example). I find it supremely unpleasant to work with. Looking kinda a little bit slightly messed up should not be a critical syntax error that breaks the whole code.
These things are very heavily optimized for the singular purpose of reading books. They can’t do much of anything else, but they do that one thing very well and very efficiently. They run a custom, lightweight Linux OS that’s very aggressive with its battery management. Coupled with an e-ink display, they sip power and can run for weeks on a single charge. That’s not something a simple android can provide.
That’s a corpo problem, not an EV problem. They could very easily make a perfectly fine EV that isn’t a shitty motorized “smart device”, if they chose to. But they aren’t. The EV push just happened to coincide with the global ramping up of automotive enshittification that had already begun for all cars regardless of their energy source.
Meh. I would not take either. In fact I actually didn’t. I went to a showroom and got inside their EVs and PHEVs while looking for a car. My immediate reaction after sitting in the driver’s seat of their PHEV was “I don’t want to drive this”. Same thing with the pure EV. I’ll give you the wheel, but those A/C controls next to the “shifter” are touch surfaces instead of actual buttons, and they’re just as annoying and worthless as touchscreen controls. Which is sad because those cars have fantastic stats on paper and very competitive prices. Unfortunately most EVs on the market have fucking stupid interior designs. Very often you have to choose between affordable and well designed. Not very many that are both.
In the end I decided not to buy a new car at all. Still got my 2015 Leon.
BYD cars don’t have very many buttons either. See here. They’re tablets on wheels too. I quite dislike BYD interiors.
That was said by some random Microsoft employee who had no official capacity to say something like that, and the whole thing sounded like they meant to say “latest” anyway. It is and was a worthless statement that got way more attention than it deserved.
Limiting the bandwidth use of individual devices is pretty easy, and basically standard procedure for public networks. Even cheap consumer routers that come with ISP subscriptions can do that.
The water thing is just a quirk of capacitive touchscreens. The same happens on the most expensive watches too, which is why there is usually a water mode that you can put the watch into. It sorta locks the touchscreen until you disable it using one of the physical buttons.

They’re going to know it’s VPN fairly easily because it’s fairly obvious what you’re doing when all or most of your traffic is encrypted and is directed at one or two addresses. Even more obvious if those one or two addresses happen to belong to known VPN or VPS providers or something.
This is exactly my experience. I was super confused by the timer on the dryer. Then I called support and they said it was normal for where I live and where the machine sits in the house. Air too humid and spot less than ideal for moisture to be taken away from the machine in a timely fashion.
Pro tip: you can probably uninstall Gemini via ADB. Android won’t let you uninstall it using your phone’s UI, but since it’s just another package you can probably use the old ADB tricks to wipe it from your phone. Use your favorite search engine to figure out how, it’s not exactly a secret.
It is and it isn’t. Again, the whole thing is super vague. Machine vision or pattern seeking algorithms do not try to imitate any human behavior, but they fall under AI.

LLMs are one of the approximately one metric crap ton of different technologies that fall under the rather broad umbrella of the field of study that is called AI. The definition for what is and isn’t AI can be pretty vague, but I would argue that LLMs are definitely AI because they exist with the express purpose of imitating human behavior.
Or they do switch but for like 1 day and then go back to messaging you on WhatsApp. I tried switching to signal at least a couple times, even convinced a couple groups to move, but not a single chat lasted more than a couple weeks. Eventually they all went back to WhatsApp. Every single one. It’s extremely difficult to get people to care.

You can have devices on your wifi network without giving them access to the internet. You set your firewall (which, for most people, is the router that comes with the internet subscription) to block all internet traffic to and from those devices while still allowing them to communicate with the other devices on the same local network. Fairly straightforward on most routers with a little bit of time spent looking up the basics.
I genuinely don’t see the problem with those. Amber lights on the left side of the car light up, that can only mean one thing. There is no ambiguity there whether they’re playing snake or just flashing. I have never, on no occasion, found myself confused by those.
