Are you really that surprised? I regularly see people even on Lemmy talking about how much they wish they could disconnect from everything going on and live a quiet peaceful life in the country. That’s essentially what all these people have chosen; they have decided the world is too scary for them and they don’t want to process it anymore. Things will continue to get worse for them, and they won’t have any idea why.

It was definitely preventable, but to laud all of this to the actions of one man is foolish. The American empire has been in decay for longer than I have been alive. It’s not really surprising that is now begun to crumble and collaps.

You’re underestimating how easy it is to infuriate Trump, and overestimating how worthwhile it is. I’d much sooner have that fat fuck drown in his own blood than want to get a rise out of him. Will my ability to play games be significantly affected compared to Windows?
So far, my experience on this depends on your graphics card. If you’re using AMD, you shouldn’t be too significantly impacted. If you’re using Nvidia, god help you. In my experience trying to get games running on Linux with an older Nvidia card, you’ll have a lot more fun bashing your head into a wall until the wall breaks.
Honestly, it’s about a similar standard of care. Doctors in the U.S. are too overworked to be helpful, most of my peers’ experience with doctors is getting ignored and belittled by them. Add on the amount of time and money that an appt can cost, and it’s not surprising that people are looking for an experience that at least gives them good vibes.
If it was just one extra manual step, it’d be fine. In my experience working with Nvidia drivers on Mint and later Ubuntu, it’s more like 15 extra steps and some things still don’t work. Sure, it’s better than dealing with Windows 11, but from my experience it has not felt like less hassle than getting games running on Windows 10. Maybe that’s just an Nvidia issue, and I certainly would love to upgrade to an AMD system for better Vulkan support, but that’s not happening anytime soon.
III. Little Jimmy doesn’t really need to, because the amount of times that windows update completely bricks your drivers is pretty low. You’re clearly overestimating the driver issues that people experience with Nvidia or otherwise on Windows. Neither myself nor any of the people I know have ever experienced any significant driver-based issues while playing on Windows, and the truth is that the vast majority of Windows users do not even need to know what a graphics driver is to be able to easily play games on Windows.
Yeah it’s great that AMD support seems to be great and I agree that Nvidia sucks as a company, but I’m not the one claiming Linux is the greatest gaming system.
Biggest one is going to remain gaming. If anything, I’m beginning to feel like Steam Proton is starting to harm Linux gaming efforts more than helping them. I’ve known games that have dropped native Linux support because “It works on Proton!” only for the game to not actually work on Proton.
If we could get to a world where every game could actually be run on Linux with minimal hassle, maybe then you can beat the drum that there’s no point using Windows. Until then, it’s going to remain the OS for gaming.

What normal? The only thing that’s really changed is that the U.S. isn’t masking their crimes in flowery language. It wasn’t that long ago that we were shooting student protestors in campus and segregating our population based on race. We have plenty of experience in illegally removing migrants and have already used concentration camps.

The problem with your theory is that with the removal of the Fairness Doctrine, the creationist and the faith healer weren’t deplatformed. Instead, they stopped needing to have a doctor or a paleontologist on the air to fact check them. I went to a public school and got 2/3rds of what you did, so I’m not really sure the issue is public vs private and more an issue of education in general in the U.S.
