Maybe people should actually learn to use their brains so they can read slightly more difficult articles. Holy shit are we gonna have some idiots running around in 10 years. You wont lose access from switching. I have the same scenario. Multiple drives, coming form windows. However, your drives are probably formatted NTFS which doesn’t play nice with linux. You will want to backup and then reformat them as EXT4 before long. Thats probably the biggest pain with moving to linux. But it’s not that bad. I recommend getting an external backup drive or maybe a cloud backup for a month to have somewhere to put your files before you switch fully.

I made the switch a few months ago after using linix maybe 13 years ago. I rarely boot windows now.

I find flatpaks really annoying. Even using flatseal to allow perms, I have constant issues. But I’m a noob.

I’m having the best time computing on linux again. It had been about 10 years since I last had it since I kind of just forgot about it or thought it wouldn’t fit my needs. I hardly boot to my windows drive now except to play pubg.

This is why I tell people stop using LLMs. The owner class owns them (imagine that) and will tell it to tell you what they want so they make more money. Simple as that.

Mini hijack but what software would yall recommend for vhs backups, preferably linux native? I figure need to do this before they start degrading. I have a capture card already, just was wondering the best software. I tried potplayer but didnt love it…id really need software with an auto shutoff so I can play a tape when I go to work or bed and not have 6 hours of blank recorded…

Thats a good idea, i have not made any aliases yet. Also remembering all of those aliases is another challenge ha. I keep a text file named commands on my desktop with a whole bunch of commands I forget.

I think just doing it more, and thinking it’s cool to interact more directly. At least that helps me. I do feel bad for dyslexic peiple though, it’s a lot harder for them to use CLI.

Agreed. It’s a car. I have an entertainment system at home and great speakers for listening. Cars suck for actual listening quality anyways.
