4·5 months agoNah, you can just sudo umount /path/to/device and then remove it. No need to power off the pi.
Out of curiosity what did you install ? And what did you install it on ?
Stick to it! I know it seems overwhelming in the beginning, but you will get used to it at first and then get better with time.
