I’m not defending the flippant use of it in day to day conversation. But considering this community (Lemmy) I think it’s fairly safe to say they were not being homophobic.

I shut that shit down quick with some Gen z roommates I had when they said it everyone they died in a video game. For context, I am two standard deviations to the right of the bell curve when it comes to largeness, and I don’t mean I was fat. My mom considered herself bi, but is married to a woman. After relaying that info to said roommate, I didn’t hear it again.

That being said, I don’t think that type is prone to the jumping through technological hoops required to create an account here.

I am hopeful that the pain continues for him. Tesla was the only option for a few years for an EV with >100mile range and a nation wide system for charging. Those things are not true anymore. I mean I got chargers near my visitor center tourist area with a population of ~40k ffs. He had a monopoly and a comically inflated stock valuation. The stock is currently seeing a proper rebalance now that there is competition. Dude had a defacto monopoly, and pissed it away to do two Nazi salutes. He likely will never be actually broke, and Tesla isn’t going away completely anytime soon. But any economic pain he endures is a slight glimmer of hope.

I say this as a gun owner and avid trap/skeet competitor in a very red State, it is not consider really considered ok here either. If you live in that high a crime community, then you shouldn’t even open the door. I had this happen to me once after moving here, delivering pizzas at night to understand the city a little better. I told the manager and they were immediately blacklisted.
