When Americans re-elected GWB, I realized “this place is RAPIDLY becoming a shithole that’s only going to get worse.” I got the hell out as soon as I was able, and every single day since, I’ve been more relieved I left when I did.

Asked and answered, repeatedly, in almost every relevant discussion on this site (to say nothing of every history book you’ve ever read)- but hey, you already know this, and yet, have decided that getting defensive is the best response here.

The American people are the government. They’ve abdicated responsibility. The citizens are the ones allowing this to continue. They have LONG been aware they can’t count on their elected officials- and your comment does nothing but give them cover for their absolute cowardice.

Cool. Well, I mean- take it easy. You’re probably better off maybe going to a very safe get-together downtown. You can make a snarky sign, even. Try to get the appropriate permits so you have the approval of the people you’re hoping will just relinquish power on their own- or, at very least, make sure you’re easily ignored.
