1 month agoThe United States has been dodging the ICC since Bush the Younger yipped out. Membership and retroactive accountability is long overdue, and hopefully it will start with ICE.

Stop it. It’s bad enough we have to wade through nearly two years of campaign assaults prior to POTUS elections. The spectacle of the last inauguration was just 14 weeks ago, and we’re fucking exhausted. Just stop it.
The Dirty War has arrived.
It’s always important to question everything - but don’t stop there.
First, check the source and citations. This news org claims to be progressive and it actually checks out as left leaning. Citations are legit.
Next, read carefully for context. While the article discusses the amount conservatives have pumped into their candidate, and even musk’s $12 million donation plus his million dollar voter payout scheme, the focus is on all the details of dem/liberal/left contributors. So it’s meant to be a positive story of coming together against the project 2025 machine.
Agree with everything except the circumstances of Tim Cook’s “bravery”. He was outed on tv in a catty way, which generated a big bubble of support for him before he carefully opened the closet door.
Knife threats must be terrifying. If only there was something they could deploy that didn’t murder people, like a taser or a net gun.
Hey now. I’m from that state, and I’m positive that I have no regrets about getting the fuck out of there.
I’m not west Texas Mennonite, so I couldn’t say with authority. Both Amish and Mennonite are Anabaptist, but Mennonites don’t eschew electricity, cars, and technology.
The Mennonite families I’ve known were rural and lived in a more humble fashion with a hard-working ethic reminiscent of 1950’s USA. They were also inclusive, so they probably would embrace biker metalheads.
The report states that this was a “school-age child”. Because the outbreak is primarily in rural west Texas Mennonite families, the child was likely homeschooled and with parents who, while not opposed to vaccines, are on the fundamental side of religion. Mennonite is like Amish-lite.
I believe this may have been a combination of poor education, jesus stuff, and misplaced faith in isolation.
3·4 months agoYeah, I understand the need to take some sort of action against little adolph and this coup, but even the promoters admit that there is no objective here - so it’s only theatrics. Better to use energy and time in a manner that at least has a goal.

So what does 21st century resistance look like? It seems that the bystander effect Germany experienced 100 years ago is happening in the USA now. What would have prevented the rise of the Third Reich? Protests are ineffectual, and I have no idea how to organize or resist - I’m just trying to stay informed in a horrified and helpless kind of way, which accomplishes nothing more than my passive complicity.
Do we need a modern Black Panthers movement? If a brilliant and charismatic leader like Malcolm X were to come forward and lead us, would we be inadvertently accelerating the inevitable martial law or creating the excuse for Civil War II Red vs Blue? Is it even feasible to envision an effective plan from a demographic that prefers pacifism?
It’s ok, everybody. The insurance companies are contracting with 3rd party companies and using AI to make decisions, so we’re all good.
