I used fakespot a lot. It used huristics to attempt to determine how authentic a product’s reviews are. It analyzed the reviews for things like repeated phrases, odd review activity like bragading, and other things. It then gave a letter grade to the veracity of the reviews and an “adjusted” aggregate review score after removing any reviews that it considered to be suspicious.

I’m going to miss fakespot. I don’t know how accurate it was but it definitely informed my decisions.

That just seems like good advice for any law enforcement interaction. If that is grounds for arrest, we’ve fallen even farther than I thought already and I thought we’d fallen pretty far.

I think the disagreement here is semantics around the meaning of the word “lie”. The word “lie” commonly has an element of intent behind it. An LLM can’t be said to have intent. It isn’t conscious and, therefor, cannot have intent. The developers may have intent and may have adjusted the LLM to output false information on certain topics, but the LLM isn’t making any decision and has no intent.

I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted. You are 100% right. Abrego Garcia is an El Salvadorian national who is here under a legally protected status and who is married to a citizen.

Marriage does not grant citizenship. It is an expensive and complicated process to get citizenship for a foreign spouse.

Ummm, no, he is not a citizen. He was here under a legal protected status because a judge recognized that he was in danger if he returned to El Salvador.

Garcia is still a citizen of El Salvador.

Can someone explain this for me? I’m tired and the article is both missing context and full of double negative legal filings and rulings. I’m not sure what actually happened and who is on the side of ending qualified immunity.

“Strategic stamina” is something that the US used to have but which has disappeared as the country just tries to catch its breath.

SCOTUS already said that’s off the table in Trump v. United States. This will not impact Trump directly, only his accomplices.

So, there are a few of scenarios here:

1. They knowingly sent this to her and intend to follow through (least likely IMO)
2. They knowingly sent this in an attempt to scare an immigration attorney (somewhat likely)
3. They accidentally sent this because they are negligently sending these notices without any checks or due process (most likely)

The most likely option, while less scary than #1 and #2 is still supremely frightening. They are simply removing due process from the process. It is just a process now without any due diligence involved.

I don’t think that’s it. I think that this article is missing the point. Trump is manipulating the market in the most blatant of ways. He is intentionally crashing the market, telling people who listen to him when to sell and when to buy, then recinding the order that crashed the market.

He literally posted on truth social today to say that it is a great time to buy. Then, four hours later he rescinded the teriffs.

He is not caving to Wall Street. He is aiding insider trading at the largest scale ever seen.

Trump doesn’t give a shit about anyone but him. They just cut $55M intended to fund training for rural teachers (because who wants educated educators?) and now he wants to spend more than that on a mile long military parade celebrating his birthday. And it’s not even a milestone birthday, just a birthday.

From the article, Trump wanted to do something similar but, presumably smaller, in his first term but backed off after the price tag came to $92M. He instead opted for an event that ONLY cost $13M. How much do you think this one will cost? What will get cut to fund it?
