Of fucking course they did.

Laws without enforcement are just suggestions.
¿Porque no los dos?
Not enough people give a shit for that to ever happen. Hell, my wife (as much as I love her) doesn’t care. I’ve explained and shown her how much Netflix sucks but her desire to watch crappy Korean dubs without thinking too hard about how to do so takes precedence. Never mind my mother who is too old and stubborn to ever change.
But in the very least the subscription fees aren’t coming out of my account, and that’s really all I can do.
Well shit. There goes my hopes of HBO eventually getting the rights to The Witcher and doing it right.

That’s just how electronics recycling is, though. The amount of labor it would take to save all those SMT and BGA components is ridiculous and, honestly, is a pretty specialized skill even if it is easy to learn. The logistics of scale really makes it unreasonable, especially when simpler components can be had for literal pennies. There’s a point where the material cost of the copper is worth more than the labor it takes to do anything else with the board, and it happens a lot sooner than you think.
Having, had, what’s the difference?

People shock me every day. On one hand, it’s impressive that they have the skills or knowhow to be in the positions they are… and then you find out they believe the Earth is flat or they can’t spell or understand grammar to save their lives. It’s truly baffling at times.

Nah, they’ll misconstrue the data. They’ll likely use it to just say that women shouldn’t drive or something stupid like that.

I would argue that it’s in the people’s and the government’s best interest to teach people from an early age to not murder each other. Don’t need to involve religion, of course, but building that into early education is probably a good idea.

I dunno, ‘Don’t murder people.’ seems like a good one.
EDIT: y’all, this isn’t an argument for this shit in classrooms. Just sayin’ a stopped clock is right twice a day is all. Don’t need religion to teach morals.

And the economy…

I’ve been extremely fortunate to land a job that not only pays for my insurance, but also my wife’s. On top of that, they also give us both a card to cover literally everything until we hit our deductible. None of it costs me a dime.
That being said, I don’t expect it to last long. It can’t be cheap for them to do that for us.

The entire point of a union and the dues they collect is precisely for this reason, to pay them while they’re striking. Also, by remaining employees of the company, it’s a little more difficult for them to just fire people for doing so. If they quit, the company’ll just hire scabs.

It’s been the case for me my whole life. One time I was in a spot where I was able to save a couple grand, then the transmission in my car died and since then I haven’t been able to save a dime. That was 2019.

I use Facebook (I know) daily and I go out of my way to hide and/or report every ad I see. The vast majority are displayed alongside Reels (which is its own problem) but a few are just… regular reels, masquerading as ads. It’s incredibly frustrating. I don’t expect anything to be done, similar to my reporting hate speech against gay and trans folks.
When the solution to the problems are ‘low prices sell more product’ and literally every company seems to be ignoring that, maybe this is the way to finally get things moving in the right direction.
