North korean are forced to use a smartphone?
‘The more I see of what you call civilisation, the more highly I think of what you call savagery.’
North korean are forced to use a smartphone?
I call that a normal day at Google or Meta
Tech or precisely it’s real world applications affect everything, including politics.
Nah, just going along with Ukraine war and letting it get to and pushing to the point of war is a testament that Washington and Brussels are a foreign policy monolith. That finally sold it for me. EU is ready to sacrifice it’s interests to drive their perceived transatlantic interests that the two political classes mostly share. EU political elite and media mainly hate Trump because he showed that EU capitals and Brussels are bunch of losers with no real political agency, who got conned into supporting and prolonging this unwinnable war to the hilt and are now being left to hold the bag.
First concrete move towards EU independence would be to stop this war and normalize with Russia, but in this fucked up world Trump wants both and EU wants neither. That is the fucked up world we live in. EU wants further conflict on it’s continent and US doesn’t want a war in Europe.
I do personally want European independence, but I see that EU in it’s current state is not a force for it, nor is it good for Europeans.
So it’s made by the EU in the sense that the maintainers are likely citizens of the EU, I guess
Even after that, be reminded that this current mania in the EU has nothing to with being anti-american or wanting to dump American products or services themselves. The people who are most into this are anti-Trump, not anti-american or fundamentally against Europe being subordinate to the US. Most of them are probably secretly wanting the world to return to 2024 and EU being US junior partner of “the west” and happily eating MacDonalds and using microsoft services. It’s not an European sovereigist movement at it’s core and therefore it has not staying power after Trump or Maga.
It might be that these people are just Foss enthusiasts with pure intentions wanting to promote the cause by riding the wave. However if the wave is just a meme conjured because of Trump then this project or things like it have no staying power or future even if it really being an EU project or being adopted tomorrow.
I read the sovereign to mean something like an unified platform for EU institutions, that you can dev and train people on.
dependent on the whims of a US defense contractor like RedHat/IBM
A very good point.
Wow this company is not scary at all…
A another tool which whole point is to prevent any change from happening in the name of security. Not only will it not succeed, but because the powers that be want to build dams and not solve contradictions underlying the problem, they will just make the end result more abrupt, violent and bloody.
In such a system, the ESP32 fully trusts the host. If an attacker maliciously gains control over the host system, they could potentially issue these debug commands to influence ESP32’s behavior. However, an attacker must first compromise the host device, making this a second-stage attack vector rather than a standalone vulnerability. Or, gain a physical access to the device to send the HCI commands over serial interface.
Does this even count as backdoor? Not really if you have to have access to the device in the first place.
Why do kill switches when you can just hog all the work of maintaining some critical part of the infrastructure and make it’s functioning and maintenance so opaque and impenetrable that the employer can’t replace or fire you without their shit catching fire soon after. It doesn’t have to be malicious or illegal.
His efforts to sabotage their network began that year, and by the next year, he had planted different forms of malicious code, creating “infinite loops” that deleted coworker profile files, preventing legitimate logins and causing system crashes
I wish this guy was were actually politically motivated, but he seems to have been just really petty minded person.
Huawei’s android skin/variant
No, it’s not anymore, never really was. They dropped even the last android parts from it with HarmonyOS NEXT last year.
This leak is really scetchy, tbh. If it’s real then it’s probably happening because of the HarmonyOS NEXT that came out late last year. With that they basically dropped the previously used custom android/linux kernel for their own totally own proprietary HarmonyOS kernel. However with that they also lost support for android and linux code sideloading in the process and replaced it with some linux translation layer.
I always thought that HarmonyOS was meant to be more of a Android replacement that also had it’s place in stuff like TVs, cars, IoT and smart devices, but they still tried PCs with it, but it was more like chromebook-like toy computer for web browsing and text editing than a full pc. It seemed like a competent product android and android smart device replacement, but I never saw it as a serious competitor for Windows, MacOS or Linux desktop. If them plan is just be self sufficient and ditch US code, then you can do more in the linux ecosystem and get more app support right out of the gate and not have to ask everybody to rewrite their code for your custom OS. With linux-laptops they will have global markets for their computers, when as Harmony OS and it’s still are best in China’s own ‘software lagoon’ where third parties care more about developing for Huawei app store.
Wasn’t uefi a must already for windows 10 computers? Atleast for win 11 it is. We are probably talking 10-20% max of global computers that are affected and those also the type of computers that are not generally upgrading to RDNA4.
Your thinking seems to assume the liberal society as static and unchanging and seek to make life within it more tolerable, even with things that are mostly just product of current society and it’s ills.
This, flat GDP really only accurately measures US economy and maybe the Euro zone. With others it becomes increasingly useless in really estimating anything concrete about that economy. Doubly so if they are sanctioned.
Crypto really is a perfect target for this kind of bank robbery, nobody can really feel too bad about it. It adds nothing to society, since you can’t even buy anything with it beside drugs and is mostly used for speculation and creating pollution. Also 99% of it is owned by people who already have enough or too much wealth to begin with.
Now that it has been “freedomized” it instead says that Israel is actually 3000+ years old and Palestinians are invaders, and Israel has the right to defend itself like chatgpt does. Also that American style liberal democracy is the peak of human development and civilization. Don’t kid yourself that this has anything to do with truth or making it more “accurate”. Yeah just replace one set of official truths, half thrush with other set of official positions, half truths and outright lies to plug the gaps. Again, who fact checks the factcheckers? Even just out of spite I would not use any model that advertises itself as being trained to answer to the sensibilities of a western techbro liberals so that they can once more outsource their thinking to outside party, because at-least it isn’t the CCP propaganda. Like it’s so absolutely dreadful when deepseek copy-pastes official CPC party line word for word, on Chinese form of government instead of making up some Wikipedia tier wall of text where the word “authoritarian” is about as common of a word as “the”.
I just don’t get it man. What kind of non thinking cretin purposefully would use this kind of model? It’s probably really the pettiness that gets to me so badly. Or maybe it’s that while this is purposefully made to push a certain narrative, the deepseek’s bias is probably just a result that it’s been trainer on Chinese internet data.
Yeah you are going to get “horrible” 100fps lows in AC4 and borderlands 2 whit physx enabled.
How many of the two dozen games affected were already capped engine wise to 60 or 30fps because of console ports? If you can afford 5000-series then you probably also have a processor that can more than enough offset the GPUs workload. AC4 for example came out when gtx 980 was bleeding edge. It’s just what AMD GPU users have been living with for decades, and not even really noticing. Even my three gen old low tier AMD laptop with integrated graphics can eek out 30+ fps in mirrors edge with physX on and all graphics maxed. I’m sure all of these games will be fine.
Water is wet, researchers find
Like basic thermodynamics can tell you that carbon capture sucks efficiency wise. It’s more work to pour water on the floor and then mopping it up and putting a back into the bottle, than just not not spilling the water in the first place.
I would think, in the US, antitrust laws would apply.
ARM is brittish
Is this different from Intel and x86 architecture? (Genuinely asking)
yes the ARM architecture is it’s own thing, licensed by ARM.
Why think of the consumer when you have practical monopoly on online video content distribution. If the creators are on youtube so will their audience and vice versa. Where will any of them go if you squeeze?
