I can concede that the conflict can present “complex” at first glance due to some Palestinians taking arms and themselves doing some heinous acts.
But this is all downstream of an illegal occupation by Israel. This conflict really isn’t that complex. End the illegal occupation, then you can reasonably expect violent resistance to die down and to talk your way through it.
I skimmed the article, I might have missed it but here’s another strike against AI, that is tremendously important: It’s the ultimate accountability killer.
Did your insurance company make an obvious mistake? Oops teeehee, silly them, the AI was a bit off
Is everything going mildly OK? Of course! The AI is deciding who gets insurance and who doesn’t, it knows better, so why are you questioning it?
Expect (and rage against) a lot of pernicious usage of AI for decision making, especially in areas where they shouldn’t be making decisions (take Israel for instance, that uses an AI to select ““military”” targets in Gaza).
No one disputes the need to get people in the street. I agree with you there.
My cautionary tale is that turning to democrats or other mainstream ““resistance”” is a trap meant to deflate popular morale.
It’s good to see people politically animated, but these protests are largely ‘controlled opposition’. It’s an emergency venting valve where the people’s frustration is channeled into a meaningless whistle.
The whole system is rotted. The democrats are not fighting for the small folk at all. If anything, a branch of the party is probably relieved that the republicans moved the overton window so far right.
Real change will require actual upheaval. You can’t vote or protest your way out of this shit. Major civilian disobedience and unionizing is required across the board. There are some of us (working class) that are doing some unassuming maintenance in the orphan crushing machine. We won’t get anywhere as long as people are operating their evil cog as normal. These protests won’t do anything as long as it’s being directed through the democrat pressure valve, as it is built in as a safety device in the orphan crushing machine.
I’m going to start pointing to this when I explain to people why I want “dumb” machines.
I don’t want AI to “summarize” my google search, I don’t want ads distracting drivers, I don’t want a washing machine that needs updates, I don’t want my TV to look at me, I want a submissive little machine that does task X.
The illegal occupation has been going for decades. Yes, there is a lot of individual political events.
But I don’t see how a macro analysis can end any ways other than “shits happened during this colonization of Palestine; Israel, UK and US are to blame for most evil shit”.
