Haven’t heard of it, personally, except the case with introducing a vulnerability similar to the case with the xz backdoor that wasn’t merged. Would appreciate the link, tho

Uh-huh, sure, just about protecting the users. Nevermind that actual malware is regularly found on play store, and exactly 0 times – on f-droid they’re “protecting” the users from.
Does it matter, tho? To me it looks like all phones are ultimately the same for quite a while now. Pixels used to be better mostly due to providing the ability to effortlessly unlock the bootloader while being the de facto aosp testing target, but as of lately they’ve decided to fix that, not to mention their moves to enshitify away the option to side load the apps. Samsung’s always been a wannabe crapple, and crapple is crapple.

I may be wrong here, but does it really make sense when you can’t actually prove the misuse did or did not happen? Say, you suspect phishing, then it’s a matter of inspecting a few next e-mails to/from non-proton users to decide if it’s likely happening. On the other hand, when the account is blocked, proton (as long as the claims about at-rest encryption are true) has no way of verifying the claim, since, as far as I’m aware, a user can’t provide them with what they’ve sent even if they wanted to.

Interesting, so it’s not only their recent-ish (either 12th or 13th gen and up, iirc) laptop CPUs that die under normal load.

I’d probably get my name changed even without my accounts getting blocked

I’d rather btdigg, tho

Pidof files aside, them implying they need to watch children watching porn is not much better.

Let’s fight ai with ai! As in, opencv-driven turrets :)

Looks like it hasn’t exactly been actively developed since 2022: https://github.com/BoostIO/BoostNote-App/commits/master/

Nondescriptive title, I think. Ppl here tend to be quite tired of clickbait, as I’ve noticed.

Quite possible. The solution even puts the money you spend on their disservices back in your pocket.

I’d say they’re equally meh due to not showing the whole picture. TV kinda says what feds allow 'em to, and antisocial media gives an easy way to filter only the news strengthening your beliefs in whatever (I.e. radicalization). But with the latter one can at least consciously add more perspectives [unless it’s Facebook, and zuckwomble decides to conduct one of his mood control experiments or something]

But at least you get a decaf version of a retationshit out of it 🤣

One more proprietary garbage, one less proprietary garbage… What’s the difference?

I meant their supposedly secret chats. Last time I’ve checked they weren’t even available on desktop

Why block a popular messenger that has no e2ee by default and shady custom e2ee that doesn’t even sync between multiple devices users can optionally use? Sounds counterproductive

Also fair :)

It’s not about the past vs present, it’s about them solving an issue that didn’t exist in the first place. Like who the hell thinks it’s a good idea to let cars connect to the internet? Except car manufacturers who decided cars became too cheap for their tastes so it’d be nice to data-mine the customers as well. Enshitification 101, that’s all I’m saying.
“Less suitable […] than expected” is kinda terrifying given expectations must’ve been pretty low in the 1st place knowing their history with linux…
