The main reason the invoke an emotional response. They stole everything from us (humans) illegally and then used it to make a technology that aims to replace us. I dont like that.
The second part is that I think they are shit at what people are using them for. They seem like they provide great answers but they are far to often completely wrong and the user doesnt know. Its also annoying that they are being shoved into everything.
Yeah we’re kinda doing well. Retaining 50k mau from the initial user burst is really good and Lemmy was technologically really bad at the time. Its a lot more developed today. I think next time reddit fucks uo we spike to over 100k users and steadily grow from there.
Reddit pretty much only had tech, humour, atheism, racism and cp its first 5 or 6 years as a platform.
They developed plastic that desolves in seawater in hours. Well if it were that easy they should have started developing that a bit sooner and we wouldnt be in this mess.
I just watched this movie last week. Its got so many good lines.
I was just sitting there looking at the cool art I have as a lockscreen wallpaper and im thinking, man I wish my phone would scan my face and place an ai slop image with my face badly right on my lock screen. Thank god Samsung is so in touch with what features consumers want added to their $1000 devices.
Feels like it should be illegal to mislead people like that.
In libre office I can’t get copilot to turn my entire report to slop in 2 clicks.
Upgrade my PC. I put new parts in but I dont notice any real gains because my system was already running well.
My most costly mistake was probably installing gentoo on a Chromebook. That took so long and was both fun and extremely frustrating. It was working but now I’m getting these weird drive errors because the entire thing is loaded on an SD to avoid using the Chromebooks 15gb internal storage.
I’m on Nobara for 3 years now after spending a year on manjaro. Nobara is pretty sweet, performance is top of the line, its stable and I get packages decently fast.
But I hate not being able to use discover to update.
So I’d switch if something had a cooler fetch logo and was able to fix that.
I’m familiar with the linux system ive done gentoo and arch but why I use distros like nobara and fedora is because i can’t be fucked to keep up with what the latest optimisation are and then implement them.
A lot of the tasks ai is doing are process issues. If the worker needs ai to filter a report for to much jargon people need to write more concise reports. There now we’ve saved time for the readers and the writer. For the replying to emails with “personalised” job advice. Thats gross, I dont think its ethical for government workers to give ai responses to people who are desperately seeking employment.
All kinds of things can motivate workers to care more about their job and thus work harder. Stuff like saying if you finish your work you can go home early (this would net me 4 hours of productivity each day). Things like performance based compensation. Shorter work weeks. Less commute time. Better work environment. Im sure many people could find an extra 26mins in there day if they wanted to.
Also keep in mind this is a self reported study. It feels productive when ai writes you an email but sometimes you fluff around with ai and you could have just written it 20s.
26mins seems within the margin of error. You could get at least an extra 26 mins of productivity out of someone in plenty of different ways.
Yeah thats what I was trying to add with my reply. Ms is only better because its had 1000x the funding. But even with that funding its not 1000x better its only slightly better. This is a perfect time to fund alternatives and take away Microsofts monopoly.
Look if you’re struggling with ms office in this day and age idk what to tell ya. You might be cooked.
I hate microsoft as much as the next guy but their office suite is best in class. Its far better funded which makes it so surprising that the other suites arent to far behind. I think with proper funding other suites can get to a point where it makes sense to switch to them.
I told my sister she can use an adblock to block ads while she’s browsing. She said “why would i want to do that, ads show me what to buy” she loves personalised ads and the idea that all her interests are being track so she can be served relevant ads.
This is going to be my goto example of why people need to care about data privacy. This is fucking insane. I’d fire someone for even throwing that out as a suggestion.
This is exciting and terrifying. I am NOT looking forward to the future anymore.
