There’s no guarantee that it will tell you the truth. It could tell you to use Elmer’s glue to keep the cheese from falling off your pizza. The AI doesn’t “know” or “understand,” it just does as its training set informed it to. It’s just a very complex predictive text that you can give commands to.
It’s not really about the porn in the first place (for advertisers it is - they hate sex unless it’s selling their product). The porn is merely an avenue to attack another minority group. In this case, LGBTQ people. Make everything about them sexual in some way, and then ban them from life for sexual deviancy.
Evangelical right-wing states have a huge contingent of politicians who compete with one another to be the toughest on “child sex trafficking” and other Epstein-tangential topics. So, in the GOP primary, you get a lot of promises about how you’re going to round up all the pedos and put them to the sword or whatever. And this inevitably manifests as “please insert your dick into this pepper grinder to access the pornography” laws, as a sort-of practical compromise.
I’d say rather than a compromise, the “protect the children!” porn bans are an excuse to go after LGBTQ content by marking any and all content related to them as explicit and demonizing them as pedophiles going after children. They don’t care who it hurts along the way.
And Millennials faced the same thing when graduating college right into the wake of the 2008 crash. Thousands of dollars in debt where paying the minimum could leave you owing more than you started, and into a job market flooded with not just recent graduates but many veteran workers who had lost their jobs. Baristas with Ivy League degrees and no social safety nets.

But at least the calculator is designed to combine numbers in the right order. LLMs, on the other hand, could come up with a different answer every time and different models would come up with wildly different answers based on their training data.
A desktop environment is just a GUI program that your computer boots into by default. SteamOS just boots into Steam Big Screen Mode by default instead, and you can launch into the desktop afterwards. Plasma is the program that Valve chose to use for their desktop environment.
If you wanted to, you could skip all this entirely and launch your games or programs directly from the terminal without ever loading into your desktop.

I might be misremembering, but I think even the much maligned bump stock was created as an accessibility device originally. It might be another kind of similar stock that was victimized by the media, but IIRC the bump stock was designed as an aid for veterans who had lost a limb to allow them to use a pistol one-handed.
There’s a lot of stuff like that that has been fear mongered by the media. Like suppressors. Everybody has been told that they make a gun basically silent when what they actually do is reduce the sound of a gun from “permanent hearing damage” to “not permanent hearing loss.”
It has been proven over and over that this is exactly what happens. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but ChatGPT was strictly limited to training data from before a certain date because the amount of AI content after that date had negative effects on the output.
This is very easy to see because an AI is simply regurgitating algorithms created based on its training data. Any biases or flaws in that data become ingrained into the AI, causing it to output more flawed data, which is then used to train more AI, which further exacerbates the issues as they become even more ingrained in those AI who then output even more flawed data, and so on until the outputs are bad enough that nobody wants to use it.
Did you ever hear that story about the researchers who had 2 LLMs talk to each other and they eventually began speaking in a language that nobody else could understand? What really happened was that their conversation started to turn more and more into gibberish until they were just passing random letters and numbers back and forth. That’s exactly what happens when you train AI on the output of AI. The “AI created their own language” thing was just marketing.

Ironically, one of the things that I’m moving to Linux for is the gaming performance boost that I’ve heard some people report due to the lack of Windows bloat and telemetry running in the background all the time.
Bazzite, the Linux version I keep seeing people recommend for gaming and people new to Linux has had a big boost in users in the past 6 weeks or so, apparently, that people are completely attributing to Microsoft.
