Yeah, I can’t say for sure. Where I work, the health insurance is ‘self-funded’, so they’re always bitching about medical costs. It just feels like UnitedHealthCare would use different terminology for policy payouts. Like “unforeseen business costs” or some corporate doublespeak like that.

Not really. We know most other countries have PTO and vacation minimums. We’re just told that workers in other countries are lazy and incompetent.

Michigan just passed a new law requiring everyone working for a company with more that 50 employees to give their workers 72 hours of sick time per year. Someone I work with said (paraphrasing) “why do I want that, they’ll just take it out of my vacation time.”

No, they won’t. Not unless you let them. But, in a nonunion workplace there’s no real protection. We have to band together and tell the company they’re not allowed to take our vacation time. Then I’m stuck listening to how bad unions are by someone who’s never been in a union.

We know about all this other stuff, we’ve just been lied to about it our entire lives.
