Why is it bitching to teach people something they may not know?

Sure, if you already know that, that’s a valid way to tell them apart.
But if you don’t, it’s not necessarily obvious.

ABC is also the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, so that’s not a sure fire way to know.

Well sure. I mean everyone is a flight risk. Just think, you pick them up and let them go ONE TIME and they vanish forever out of our borders. We can’t have that, we need to punish them for being here illegally. Even if they aren’t/don’t want to be anymore.
… /sigh

I went into that article thinking normal frustrated parent stuff, followed by panic.
He shot her, though. That’s super messed up no matter what’s going on…

Be a great time to set up RAID storage systems (or whatever I’m not that techie) mmmmmmm I cannot waaaaait to have something resembling a backup.

I wonder if this is a “Star Trek is a conservative show” sort of thing. Like he’s genuinely not smart enough to actually understand what is right in front of him.
I mean it probably isn’t, but it also wouldn’t surprise me to find out that the whole deeper meaning of the entire thing was entirely lost on such a shallow excuse for a human.

I hate bright screens. On my phone I used the accessibility options to set up a trigger to reduce white point, turned it down decently far, and it’s easily the best QoL adaptation I’ve ever made re: screens.
Only downside is it’s very difficult to tell what is in darker pictures. But because it’s on a trigger I can toggle it on and off very very easily.
I genuinely wish I could do the same thing with my tv with just a simple trigger… I know I can alter the brightness and contrast and stuff but I’d have to mess with so many options, spread across so many sub-menus (fuck you, googletv OS, you suck super hard. Whyyyyyyyyyyy are there multiple settings menus???), to get it anywhere near what I want that it’s not really worth doing (I just crash it down to zero brightness, it’s adequate, I guess, but it’s no white point reduction…)

I got pulled over the other day. The reason given was a lane change violation (which was bullshit pretense, it was right outside a very rural, but very busy, bar so this was likely actually entrapment, tho I was for sure under the legal limit - I was there to check out line dancing because I’ve never seen it before, and only had one beer in the hour I was there).
I also had a very expired registration (haven’t driven much, and didn’t realize I forgot to renew it).
But I got let off everything with a warning…? I spent days trying to figure it out because it should have been a ticket… he didn’t even seem interested in waiting for me to dig out my insurance info (which I had, just had to get it out of my wallet).
But I have a dash cam… and it records sound. It would have proven I didn’t violate anything, and he was recorded saying why I was pulled over so no way to flub it and say it was actually the registration all along, and thus the pretense for pulling me over in the first place was void. I’m pretty sure that’s the only reason I got off with a list of warnings rather than tickets.

You never know who you are talking to these days and if you are sticking your neck out to report something, you don’t make it a content problem because you could become even more of a target than you already are. You stick to the facts and depersonalize it.
I would assume someone willing to report it was indeed troubled by the content, else we’d probably never heard about it

It’s made of foam and plastic.
That bond could last millions of years.

The good news is with all the small plastic bits floating around the environment, it’s only a matter of time until something evolves to decompose it. Tons and tons of surface area in a wide variety of environments and exposed to a wide variety of microorganisms. I mean heck even our anaerobic gut microbes are getting a chance! And plastic is basically just energy in solid form, so it’ll happen sooner or later.
The bad news is if that happens while we still use plastics, we are going to have a bad time with it.
We probably won’t even know it’s happening until it’s spread far and wide.

I really hope what they mean is clean water.
It can happen; there’s a paper mill by me that was actually an important part of the river cleanup process when the river was far worse than it is today. It takes water from the river, uses it for their needs, then treats it and returns it to the river far far cleaner than they took it out, which has been a net benefit for the entire downstream river ecosystem. That plan, and their follow-through, is the only reason that mill exists at all.
Thing is, where are they going to find this not-particularly-clean water to treat and return? Are they going to need all new infrastructure built to accommodate this?
And why is that cheaper/easier/whatever than just making a closed loop cooling system, which they could have done from the being…

I read something yesterday that says no, it’s the usual FPTP. Only the primary was RCV.

Awesome, I’m gunna try this for sure, because doing anything on my Linux machines is… a whole big thing… Thanks for sharing this!

Eh, we don’t need him contaminating all the research, plus all that hot air would speed up melting.
No, let’s throw him in a little dingy with a half-collapsed roof (inflatable life raft for ships sort of thing) and set him adrift at the point furthest from any land.
If he makes it to shore alive and without help, we let him live the rest of his life in peace. But broke, cuz his whole family needs to be stripped of any monetary gains of office.
We keep drones circling to record everything, and broadcast it globally as pay per view, and use the funds to track down and return all the people he deported.
So solitary confinement for years to drive them mad?
That’s what our injustice system currently does to people who got addicted to those drugs and fucked their lives up as a result, so that seems fitting as long as we are gunna do torture anyway.
(For the record, I’d much rather we didn’t do crimes against humanity, but here we are)
