What amazes me is the venn diagram of people who think the other countries were going to pay for the tariffs and the people who think we can’t have healthcare because the rich will just pass the taxes down to us is a circle.

One assumes you do something other than just annoy somebody who has dirt on you, granted this is Trump we’re talking about so he might of convinced himself that was a good idea.

Conservative thought revolves around the idea that anybody struggling has simply been living in decadence because they get along just fine on their 6 figure salary and can’t get it through their skull that there’s people with less than that.

They didn’t include government surveillance in that. I don’t doubt for a second the Chinese government’s willingness to regulate hotel door locks and whatnot. Better question is how much resources go into enforcement (zero isn’t a terrible bet) and how quickly businesses respond to the new regulations (I honestly don’t know China in that respect but I could see an American hotel in the same situation waiting until somebody proverbially twisted their arm on the issue).

That’s a fantastic move but it also goes under “worst guy you know makes a great point”.
