Classic NYT move replacing Angola with “notorious Louisiana prison” in the headline. And a “troubled history”?
Oh, so the trouble has ended then? Thanks NYT!

No. Typically the vessels are boarded, and occupants are either shot or captured. Then they look for drugs, seize them, and sink the boat.
The actions taken in this case are abnormal, incredibly illegal, and obviously immoral.

They sure are fueling fighting Fraud, Waste, and AbuseTM.
Obviously, the only solution is to dissolve the SSA and cancel all benefits before this can be exploited. We should create a new agency called TrumpAIDS to replace it, but reduce staff, funding, and benefits by 90%.
Much efficiency!

The public officials seem to believe there are hazardous materials on those cars, and Union Pacific even sent their own HazMat team to the site. Carriers keep extensive records of what the cargo is, where, and how much. After an incident, not making that information immediately and freely available to the public is unacceptable and irresponsible.
Shame on Union Pacific, these local officials, and the state and fed for not mandating transparency.

Palantir, Meta, and OpenAI(ChatGPT) execs are now officially members of the US military.

Yeah, its a real mystery. How did this happen?
Are we forgetting that the US has JROTC in schools? Literally training kids for the military…
Technically, it’s the brains (image processing and recognition) that uses most of the power, not the eyes (camera sensors), but okay.

Nazis literally sought the destruction of “degenerate” art and culture.

Art does not strictly adhere to logic and realism.
Ban art.
Everything must be facts and logic! 🤓

It’s not religion to blame, it’s the tribalism encouraged by most religions.

The EU and Canada too.

In the US it will cost $30,000 per year of treatment, while a generic version could be sold for $40 and still be massively profitable.

More police, more military, more defense spending, and more mass surveillance of US citizens. Surely, this is what the US needs.
The “temporary” measures enacted after 9/11 never ended, and now they want to enact more under an aspiring authoritarian.
It is as if US politics exists entirely for the benefit of defense contractors.

The US will never cease using 9/11 to push for expansion of the police state, and as an excuse to throw more money at private arms manufacturers. These demons are salivating at the prospect of another major attack, because they want to sell more weapons.

These numbers should be taken with a massive grain of salt.
The bill is far too expansive to give reliable estimates. Even those in similar income brackets will realize very different outcomes, depending on their individual circumstances. But yes, generally the poor and working class will suffer financially, and the wealthy will benefit. Those closest to either end of the wealth spectrum will see the greatest of these effects, which will be far beyond the figures predicted here.

Their official plan to “combat” Trump is to do nothing to stop him, then fundraise off the chaos he creates. They’re not actually trying to stand in his way, nor do they want to. They only care about the outcome of the next election, and more chaos means more donations. They don’t care if working people are bankrupted or suffer in the meantime, because they’ve literally said they’re now relying on funding from megadonors instead. Megadonors who share many financial interests with conservatives…
This, of course, is all built on the (flawed) assumption that the next elections are totally guaranteed to occur and will be super normal, completely ignoring the entire Jan 6 affair and aftermath, the sprint toward the far-right, fascism, and authoritarianism, and that SCOTUS declared POTUS to be basically god-king.
It’s clearly either controlled opposition, dereliction of duty, sheer stupidity, or all of the above.

At a town hall meeting, Vidalia residents vigorously opposed the plan [to integrate schools], saying it would disrupt students’ lives and expose their children to drugs and violence.
Accepting the plan would have been a “death sentence” for the district, said Paul Nelson, a former Concordia superintendent. White families would have fled to private schools or other districts, said Nelson
“It’s time to move on,” said Nelson, who left the district in 2016. “Let’s start looking to build for the future, not looking back to what our grandparents may have gone through.”
Hmm… Something tells me it’s not just something the grandparents went through…

Musk chooses who he gives money to. He’s not going to give money to Bernie, who’s currently rallying against oligarchs. Instead, he’s going to give it to the people who are willing to push his fascist agenda. In the last election that was conservatives, but it’s not like the liberals don’t have freaks of their own. Money and advertising spend largely determines election outcomes, so by giving cash to politicians he likes, he can literally buy elections. Very few politicians would turn down his cash if offered, because they want the advantage it would bring. They also just have a fetish for sucking the toes of large donors.
Why is AP still citing the ADL? Surely there are more reliable sources?
