  • Mostly unsubstantiated rumors passed around about why certain employees no longer work there. Linus has on multiple occasions admitted he was doing everything for the first time and he didn’t always get everything right as the company transitioned from some dudes in a house to a legitimate company.

Some don’t like him because of his opinions on things (most of the apple fanboys don’t like him because he regularly shits on apple and iPhones).

Some people don’t like him because of drama with other YouTubers (mostly Steve from gamers nexus).

As someone who used to watch him daily back when it was just him and Luke doing stupid shit in a regular house and doesn’t really watch him much anymore I don’t think Linus is an outright bad person. All of us are flawed in many ways. He seems like mostly a good guy and those who have met with him and worked with him that I have met or talked to only ever had nice things to say about him.

    🤷‍♂️

Who could have predicted that constantly saying all men are trash could have negative impacts???

And to be clear in no way am excusing the behavior of people who respond in this fashion, but I can also understand how they ended up where they did.

I completely understand hating some people from any category of anything, but when you broadly blame ALL of a group you are absolutely going to alienate people who were either on your side or neutral. I think this is exactly what happened to a lot of guys. They were just sitting there minding. Their business and suddenly they are being told that they are inherently evil and shitty just because they are men. They hear it on the news and on social media. Pop culture takes a shit on them too once in awhile.

It doesn’t exactly take a rocket scientist to see how this could end up twisting around in the minds of some of them.

I don’t have the specific answers for how to combat this sort of stuff completely, but I think a good starting point would be to have more targeted criticisms as opposed to just going after an entire gender broadly. I think that has clearly done more damage for gender relations than it has helped anything so far.

Just my 2 cents as a guy who has seen some old friends who were once self proclaimed feminists now go full on into hating women. It’s sad to see.

  • Obviously we install a padded arm that grabs the pedestrians and throws them back onto the curb so they learn not to just walk out in front of the moving vehicles.

Idk how it is where y’all live but generally people only jaywalk when there aren’t cars driving on the road at that moment. Other than crosswalks it’s kinda expected that if you are going to jaywalk you are going to do it when no car will have to stop or slow down to avoid you. Obviously not everyone follows that rule but generally speaking.

  • I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that many many people are driving around on tires that are way below minimum acceptable tread wear here in California. Some of them just don’t understand. Some are incompetent. Some are poor.

When I recently got all 4 of my tires replaced I watched the tire techs warn several customers that the tread on their tires was too low and every single one of them said they couldn’t afford new tires right now so rotate them and let them leave.

A tire tax would likely just increase the number of people trying to stretch a tire way past it’s recommended minimum tread depth for safety in order to save money. This would have a negative effect on road safety in the long run.

Not to mention it would also just incentivise people to put on the hardest and longest lasting rubber they can find meaning that in cold or wet conditions they will have significantly worse performance again leading to more accidents.

The tire tax idea seems like a very bad idea.
