    A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that both the victim and her husband work for the LASD.

    This seems like a weird detail to add to me unless you are trying to make the story fit a specific narrative.

      Yeah it’s a headline convention, and I have no idea why, because it doesn’t make any sense. When someone is saying something, in every other context, it’s “Person: Statement”.
